Freelance event operations for arts, culture and sports.

I'm Tarin Storm, a Portland-based event freelancer. I help great teams deliver exceptional and memorable experiences. I direct the Sisters Annual Lacrosse Invitational, a 60-team tournament in Central Oregon, and I'm on the founding team of the Bend Comedy Festival.

About

Trailmap Events is my freelance practice for arts, culture and sports events, built on more than seven years of running programs and events in Oregon.

I work with agencies, production companies, nonprofits, community organizations and individuals, either in a defined role on an existing team or directing an event outright.

I'm a generalist problem-solver who plugs in wherever a team needs help, and I can work on both sides of an event: the organizational and admin work behind the scenes, and the in-person operations on event day.

Behind the scenes

  • Schedules, timelines and planning trackers
  • Budgets, vendor estimates and payments
  • Staffing plans, hiring and training
  • Registration, ticketing and participant communication
  • Sponsor and partner coordination
  • Marketing, websites and email campaigns

On event day

  • Site setup and venue management
  • Leading staff and volunteers on the ground
  • Crowd control
  • Sponsor and partner needs on site
  • Social media in real time
  • Fixing problems on the spot, under pressure

Event Director · 2021 to present

SALI is a boys and girls lacrosse tournament held across the school fields in Sisters each spring. Thump Lacrosse, the company I co-founded, brought it back in 2022 after a two-year hiatus, and I've directed it since, from venues and scheduling to staff, budget, vendors and marketing.

Bend Comedy Festival

Founding team and selection committee · 2025 to present

A three-day comedy festival held every Labor Day weekend in downtown Bend. The 2025 debut sold out more than 20 shows, with headliners Kate Berlant, Susan Rice, Ehsan Ahmad and Peter Antoniou. In 2026 it moved into larger rooms, including the Tower Theatre, with Fahim Anwar, Cristina Mariani, Geoffrey Asmus and UCB's ASSSSCAT. It is presented by the Bend Comedy and Arts Foundation, a volunteer-run 501(c)(3).

I was part of the group that shaped the festival early on, and I sit on its selection committee. On festival weekend I'm the utility player, and the person the team turns to when a situation gets tense and needs a calm fix.
